actual Sword From 100+ years ago???
i am helping my great aunt clean out her apartment and we found a really nice looking sword that my uncle gave her 30 years ago. the blade says ames company, chicopee, mass and the sheath said rev. will a kelley. the leather case it was in said st. aldema, then its faded to the point where u cant see the words, and then it says K.T. i was wondering how much this would be worth and how could i find a history on some of the stuff it says. i did a little research and it says the ames company went out of business in 1906. also, i typed in st. aldema and i found a site that talked about geoffrey de st. aldemar (the R could be faded) who had some something to do with the Knights Templar (maybe the KT?). Any help i could get would be great
The internet is not really helpful for something as specific as this. I would go to your public library and check out an antique price guide. About military artifacts or weaponry, if you can find one. It might even have some names of dealers or historians you could talk to.
