Sword/knife laws in ontario canada?
i practise Martial Arts and i was going to buy a sword off ebay. i looked and looked… and looked for laws about swords or knifves but i cant really find any.
im buying the sword just for decoration like to put in my room or something.
soo if any 1 can help me out or shed a little light on it. It would be much apreshiated.
According to the Part III of the Criminal Code http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/showdoc/cs/C-46/bo-ga:l_III//en#anchorbo-ga:l_III,
“prohibited weapon” means
(a) a knife that has a blade that opens automatically by gravity or centrifugal force or by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in or attached to the handle of the knife, or
(b) any weapon, other than a firearm, that is prescribed to be a prohibited weapon;
… and
restricted weapon”

“restricted weapon” means any weapon, other than a firearm, that is prescribed to be a restricted weapon;
No specific mention in the CC tho there might be something in the regulations, which change fairly often. The law here seems more concerned with what you do with a weapon but because the punishment for importing prohibited and restricted weapons is pretty hefty, check your intended purchase with Canada Border Services Agency http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/menu-eng.html for final approval. There may be packaging rules and so on and you may have to submit ID. They’ll know.
