Sword Double
Are good memories a priceless, yet double-edged sword? Would you prefer to be overly sentimental?
Nothing brings me as much joy and as unique of feelings than reminiscing about fun times from long ago. BUT, nothing also brings me as much sadness and depression. How can missing these good times bring me so down that I can’t even bare to look at more than a few pictures without slumping depressedly or listen to reminiscent music without breaking into tears?
It may just be that I’m very sentimental, but I would not give up that trait for a second. The bliss of memories seriously outweighs the gloom.
I am sentimental too and also like being that way….I get all nostalgic when i think of my baby now almost 1 as a newborn and how fragile she was, so i know what you mean. I also get all nostalgic over when I was 15 and such 10 yrs ago and not a mom, and how I’d just goof off with my friends.
I think ti’s bittersweet—bitter bc they are the days no more and we’ll never get them back, sweet bc we’ll always have those memories to cherish in our hearts and b/c we were ableto experience those special moments in the 1st place.
