However, an assassin (or what you’re describing, a ninja) wouldn’t face off against the cowboy evenly. They wouldn’t be fighting the cowboy, they would assassinate them. That means that by the time the cowboy knows the assassin is there, he’s already been stabbed in the throat.
This reminds me of the funny episode of Deadliest Warrior with a Ninja and a Spartan. The Ninja wouldn’t fight the spartan, he woud kill the spartan in his sleep.
