I have really dry, chapped, red hands…how to fix this?
I am a nursery school teacher, work with Toddlers (age 2). Since I change a lot of diapers during the day I am constantly washing my hands, and disinfecting toys with bleach really takes a toll on my skin. It’s cold now too so my hands are super dry, chapped, and really red. It’s actually to the point where it’s embarassing to show people my hands!
Are there any pointers or sectrets of how to help keep my hands from getting so bad? I use lotion on the weekends like crazy and it cures it, but then come Tuesday or Wednesday again they are back to square one. Please help, it hurts!
Yes, obviously I use moisturizer during the week as well – but I put it on, then have to wash my hands 10 minutes afterwards so it comes off.
There are gloves you can put on at night – you moisturise first and the gloves help keep the moisturiser in.
Using non latex gloves (latex can irritate sore skin) whilst bleaching the toys can help too, bleach can really damage your skin. See a doctor or pharmacist about which cream to use.
