Knights Templar Shield
Knights Templar Shield

what does “SIGILLVM:MILITVM:XPISTI” stand for.?
I know it has something to do with the Knights of Templar but I have a shield with this saying on it and I’d really like to know exactly what it means. TYVM!
I think it’s a bad transcription of some Latin and Greek words.
Sigillum is clearly Latin and means “little statue, figurine”
Militum, I think is Latin as well and means”milition”, or has something to do with an army.
Xpisti, can’t be Latin. It probably will be a transcription of the Greek word “Christi”, that means “from Christ”
Sorry I can’t tell you what it means exactly.
