Katana Japanese Samurai

Katana Japanese Samurai
In your opinion what is the greatest sword ever designed for combat ?

I truly believe the greatest sword ever produced for combat would have to be the Samurai Sword. The Japanese had perfected the use of a bi-metal blade over a thousand years ago and were using it to great effect. The Katana blade design was so perfect that little, if anything has changed in the way it is still being produced today.

My second choice goes to the Roman Sword, the Gladius. This weapon was used extensively throughout the Roman domination of the Mediterranean and surrounding lands. It was so well designed to suit the battle tactics of the Roman legionaries that they didn’t change it’s design for over seven hundred years.
