6. Why are the Japanese soldiers not ready to fight before the first baffle with the samurai? Why does Captain Nathan Algren’s commanding officer make them go into battle anyway? Are they successful?
5. It is a SunTzu type of thing. He is making sure that his country is seen as strong and modern to wart off possible attacks from other countries being he is so young. Plus he is being advised to do so.
6. They are not ready because they hardly know how to shoot and they are not soldiers yet in terms of how to muster and how to fight. They are sent in because the Japanese minister wants them to fight ready or not. They lose badly and Algren gets captured in the process.
