About the Japanese Army…?
Does anybody know if officers of the Japanese Army (SDF) are still issued with Katanas for ceremonial purposes?
Doesn’t seem like it… since it is not in the list of JGSDF equipments, other equipments would be subject to the Japanese constitutions. Carrying around knives (including swords) and guns are banned in Japan so it would be illegal if they had one I guess.
There were few Japanese blog articles saying that it would be cool ‘if’ JGSDF got to carry around Katana, so I believe not.
