what is differnce between the sword fighting styles and is there a difference where i learn from us to japan ?
what is the difference between Battōjutsu, laido, kendo, and Kenjutsu ? and is there a diffence like good or bad if i lean in the u.s. or japan? i want to learn use and masterna real katana and learn some Shuriken training on the side and maybe other things i might not know. also i was wonder do they have in of these dojo in califorina because i leave in L.A.
Iaido and Kendo are modified versions of sword martial art compared to iaijutsu and kenjustsu. For all of these, they are sword Martial Arts that teach you how to strike certain spots on an opponent with different technique, as well as controlling your distance and defensive manouvers.
There are of course differences between them, with Kendo the most “sporting” of them all.
If you want to learn how to swing a katana to look cool… I wouldn’t suggest you pick up any of them since the attitude and state of mind require is not what you exhibit. If you want to learn and master it for developing yourself, then any of them is okay, though Iaijutsu and Iaido is probably not a bad set to learn, or Kenjutsu. I don’t know anything about battoujutsu.
There will be some differences between US/Japanese dojos, though if you have a Japanese trained sensei at a US dojo, there may not be that much difference.
