Destiny on yesterday’s OLTL?
I forget her name, but the actress who plays Destiny on OLTL has gotten a lot of flack in the past few months for her being “green” and not being a good enough actress for the role.
After yesterday’s episode, I think all of those people can eat their words, she was AMAZING!
Anyone else agree? If you disagree, why?
They all were great, Dr. Evans made me want to cry even though I knew it was just acting … but Ms. Shenell Edmonds who plays Destiny just took the cake! On Monday’s episode, when she got that faraway expression while insisting that the surgery should’ve been “done already”, anybody could really believe that the character was being tied up in knots over the long wait, while at the same time, feigning bravado. I know what it feels like to be in that situation … so it stood out.
And yesterday’s episode really clinched it … when she broke down and started pounding her fists into Greg, I was there. I was in that waiting room. And I was her. What made her performance even more heartbreaking was her age. And the fact that she was finally losing her innocence; she was finally realizing that no man can perform “miracles” all the time, Greg was not Jesus … and everybody dies. It really hit home for Destiny yesterday; she finally realized what Bo and Nora had been up against with Matthew! It was an interesting parallel.
I always KNEW Shenell could do it! I’m an aspiring actress myself, and I can nearly always spot raw talent. I’ve performed in different plays, and I’ve seen actors in all stages of talent. Sometimes you need to be faced with a certain situation in a script that will bring out your real talent; sometimes you have to “feel” a situation, in order to connect with it. The mark of a true talent is that he/she can be realistic in all situations, even to the point of faking it. I’ve always seen that in Shenell, waiting to come out. It really came out yesterday, and from here on out, it should be “smooth sailing” for her.
And, even if she needs some more time to get there … she will.
By the way, it was a nice turn of events, with Matthew being the one to give Destiny a “pep talk”; Destiny has always been the one who stood by Matt, and did her best to lift his spirits.
