Hanwei Classic Forged Katana?
Well im thinking about investing in a Hanwei Classic Series Forged Katana. I need something that can endure HEAVY cutting of hard and soft targets, however my budget, as per average citizen doesn’t quite fit around it, So i was wondering what other swords could match up with that quallity of preformance with a bit of a lower cost, Hand Made of coarse. Ive looked into a few Masahiro Furubushidoo, and they seem rather nice. Well just looking for some experts who could help me out a bit here. Thanks

The hanwei swords are not that bad. But as always you get what you pay for. You can not expect their 200 dollar range to be as good a quality as their 1000 and up range.
From what I’ve read on their website they have recently developed a bainite katana (bainite is a very hard tooling steel) but it ranges round 3000 $ Usually they blades they make are pretty good for normal tamageshiri and the more expensive blades will handle more than that but as to coarse materials you must remember that a katana was developed for fine cutting not for heavy chopping
