What type of sword should I get for my son’s birthday?
He wants a sword to display on his wall and to pretend to fight with. A real Sword Made of metal, with a dull blade.

If your son is going to swing the sword about, definitely don’t get a decorative one. They are not strong enough and the tang can break, causing the blade to fly out of control and possibly cut someone.
It depends on the age of your son and how strong he is. Real swords usually weigh 800g – 1.5 kilos. If it weighs much more than that it isn’t a real sword. I think you should also ask him what sort of swordsmanship he prefers before making the choice.
Many manufacturers sell blunt swords. Hanwei is one such company. Remember that even a blunt Sword Can kill someone if it is used as a club or has a pointed tip. If you buy him a sword, you should also find him a qualified teacher. Swords are not meant to be toys.
