What can the Paul Chen Practical Katana – (sh1070) cut through (tatami mats, bamboo, and bleach mat)?
how hard are these object
The practical series works great if you only cut once or twice a year like my school does, because we are buried in rain and/or snow 8 1/2 months out of the year. I have one of these and it is sufficient for 1 or 2 goza (tatami rolls). But for “fat” goza or 3 of them I use my Last Legend Ameryu katana. It’s the best sword I have ever found, but I do not think that company is in operation anymore though. The previous poster is correct in that the practical edge is not as strong as Paul Chen’s other models. However, the other models, as nice as they are, are way out of my price range. I think this sword is fine for the casual practitioner.
