Why were Bill and Budd fighting in Kill Bill?

In “Kill Bill Vol. 2,” Bill mentions how he and Budd have not spoken in a long time (I’m thinking it mentioned 4 years?) and that Budd needed to stop being angry at him and start worrying about The Bride coming after him.

I’ve watched the movies a few times, but it never says why they were not speaking. Did Quentin Tarantino ever elaborate on why they were not speaking to one another?

One theory I came up with (and I could be totally wrong) was that of all the Deadly Vipers, Budd was the most sympathetic to Kiddo’s cause. Perhaps while he would do anything for his brother, he didn’t think killing her (perhaps because she was pregnant?) was the right thing to do. He didn’t like it that Bill was hurt, and needless to say, Budd had no intention on dying for what he did… but it’s a thought.

So yeah, theories? Facts? Anything?

I wondered about that before also. I’ve never heard of a reason. I always imagined it like you did. He was upset about Bill’s plan to kill her. Whether it was before the rehearsal wedding or while she was in a coma I don’t know. I imagine he was mad and was fighting him when he wanted to kill her when she was in a coma. So then after their fight, Bill called up Elle and told her not to kill her.
